I can't take any more chances with that. It's no fun. Usually, if you get hit there, you miss a day or two with the swelling and the pain.

I know my role on the team is coming off the bench, but I can definitely see myself as an everyday player. Hopefully that will come in the future, but I know my role.

It's his stuff. He doesn't throw any pitch twice. It's kind of like a guessing game out there. I know I was guessing wrong.

I told him to keep his head up, to get in the weight room and do whatever he could do. Once you get that far down, it's hard to come out of it. Jack wants to do so well. To see what he went through was difficult.

They were good. They were funny. But I asked if I could have one and they told me, no.

This is going to be great for Pittsburgh. Jim Tracy has had a lot of success, and he's done it with young guys. For us to get all that experience, it's a tremendous boost, I think.

This is going to be the first Spring Training in two or three years where I didn't have to be the first one at the field every morning and the last one here. It feels good. I can just go out and play.

This is a new team. We're not trying to look at the past and see how it was. We're trying to get a fresh start.

The name of the game is scoring runs and right now we are not doing it.

A game like this has to give a young team like ours confidence,
